On the occasion of the International
Migrants Day, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) is
launching its report: “Maghnia: Crossing the Uncrossable Border” highlighting the deplorable situation of Sub-Saharan migrants at the Algeria-Moroccan border.
A year ago to the day, the EMHRN had already expressed its concern over the conditions of migrants and refugees at the border.
The report
published today is the outcome of two fact-finding missions undertaken
in November 2012 and June 2013 to Maghnia, an Algerian town bordering
Morocco, and highlights the inhumane conditions faced by its migrant and
refugee population.

Le Réseau Euro-méditerranéen
des Droits de l’Homme (REMDH) saisit l’occasion de cette journée
internationale pour témoigner de la situation indigne faite aux migrants
subsahariens à la frontière algéro-marocaine, en publiant « Maghnia : franchir la frontière infranchissable ».
Voici un an jour pour jour, le REMDH exprimait déjà son inquiétude quant à la condition des migrants et réfugiés à la frontière.
Le rapport
publié aujourd’hui est le fruit de deux missions d’enquête menées en
novembre 2012 puis en juin 2013 à Maghnia, ville algérienne située à la
frontière du Maroc. Ses conclusions illustrent la situation inhumaine
des migrants et réfugiés qui y résident.
