[Jordan/Syria]: The Jordan Times - ‘Over 1,000 Syrians entered Jordan over past 72 hours’

Syrian activists claim that intensifying violence in Homs and Aleppo has sparked an exodus of over 8,000 civilians into the eastern Syrian desert over the past three days in a bid to seek refuge in Jordan.

Some 40,000 would-be refugees have been prevented by rising violence from crossing into Jordan and remain stranded in border towns and villages.

On Saturday, Interior Minister Hussein Majali warned that the ongoing funding gap is delaying the opening of the country’s third Syrian refugee camp, an 80,000-capacity facility in Azraq.
