[Jordan/Syria]: The Jordan Times - Thousands of stranded Syrians in danger amid border shelling

“Hundreds of families are in the streets with rockets falling all around them,” claimed Mohammad Naas, a Syrian activist with the Local Coordination Committees in Taibeh.

“If the regime does not stop, thousands will be slaughtered overnight,” he warned.

The bombings marked the latest threat facing an estimated 65,000 Syrians who have been stranded by violence along the Jordanian-Syrian border for over two weeks.

Local residents say the large numbers of displaced people, the bulk of them civilians fleeing last month’s alleged chemical weapons attack in central Damascus, have placed an increased strain on under-siege border towns and villages.
