MORE ARRESTS are expected following the break up of a human trafficking ring in Nicosia last week, said the director of Nicosia CID Thomas Thoma yesterday. Nineteen people were arrested at around midnight on Thursday near the Bata roundabout in Kaimakli; 14 were illegal immigrants (13 Syrians and one Lebanese) while five were believed to be at the centre of a trafficking ring transporting illegal immigrants from the occupied areas to the south. A sixth alleged member was arrested in his home later that night. The six suspected traffickers comprise two Turkish Cypriots, two Jordanians and two Syrians.
