OMBUDSWOMAN Iliana Nicolaou yesterday highlighted that the state could not close its eyes forever to the people languishing in jails without committing any crime. Speaking on the hot issue of migrants and asylum seekers, Nicolaou reiterated that the long-term detention of people was not acceptable. She called on the government to formulate a wider, more comprehensive strategy on migration.
