Egypt’s treatment of refugees from Syria is a violation of international law. Hundreds of women, men and children have fled conflict only to be subjected to abuse and discrimination.
For some, prolonged arbitrary detention has ended with forced deportation – in some cases back to Syria. For others their situation has become so desperate that they are risking their life to leave Egypt by sea for Europe.
Amnesty International is making the following recommendations to ensure that the rights of refugees from Syria in Egypt are respected.
