Last week, UNHCR and French NGO France Terre d’Asile presented to the French authorities a road map aimed at resolving some of the problems observed in Calais and other cities in that region. It aims at assisting persons that could have a legitimate fear of being persecuted in their country of origin. The road map outlines the details of the UNHCR mission and activities in Calais, as well as some proposals on ways to deal with Dublin cases. The plan also proposes concrete measures aimed at protecting children.
