Concerning the rights of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, the EU calls on Egypt to ensure that the UNHCR is able to carry out its tasks, including granting full access to migrants in order to establish their status as asylum seekers and to provide other services. The EU recalls the importance to fully comply and uphold international obligations relating to the protection of refugees as set out in International Conventions, in particular the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. The EU encourages Egypt to lift its reservations in respect of several articles of this Convention.
