[England] Guardian:Yarl's Wood detainees 'paid 50p an hour'

Women detained at Yarl's Wood immigration removal centre are being paid 50p an hour for menial tasks, leading to accusations of exploitation. They are employed alongside paid border agency staff to serve food in the canteen and to clean up after meals, the Guardian has learned. Refugee groups said the "pittance" paid to detainees was a "cruel irony" given that asylum seekers are not allowed to work in the community.
